JazzTimes Readers’ Poll-winning Canadian Jazz vocalist Angela Verbrugge will return to Europe for a third tour after sold-out performances in her 2023 and 2024 trips. She often performs with acclaimed New York Pianist Ray Gallon (Ron Carter, Lionel Hampton), depending on his availability. The talented duo is looking forward to continuing to showcase their successful songwriting collaborations to live audiences in England, Germany, Austria, France, and the Netherlands while working with the best local rhythm sections.
Verbrugge and Gallon began collaborating in 2018 with Verbrugge setting intelligent and witty lyrics to current original bebop material resulting in a series of successful recordings including the Night We Couldn’t Say Goodnight, their recent effort Love for Connoisseurs, the latter of which has been included in a number of critics’ Album of the Year lists including Scott Yanow’s 25 most memorable new releases of the year and positive reviews in JazzTimes, JazzWise, Syncopated Times, Jersey Jazz, JazzLives and others. Angela’s top song on Spotify has close to 300,000 listens.
In 2020, Verbrugge won Best Female Vocalist award in the prestigious JazzTimes' Magazine Readers' Poll (the poll included finalists including Diana Krall, Cecile McLoren Salvant and Veronica Swift).
