Angela dons 1940s vintage attire to sing the songs that sustained a generation through the dark days of WW2. You'll hear songs popularized by Vera Lynn, Glenn Miller, and the great sentimental ladies of song of the 30s and 40s. She is joined by John Stetch and his NYC band STEVE KORTYKA (tenor sax) // BENJAMIN TIBERIO (bass) // PHILIPPE LEMM (drums).
John Stetch: Steinway Artist John Stetch is a 6-time Juno Nominee, and has written dozens of compositions for solo piano, jazz combo and more recently, classical chamber formats. Originally from Edmonton, he attended McGill University and later moved to New York. Stetch toured across several continents, and was a member of Rufus Reid’s group for nearly a decade. He won the Prix Du Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1998, and was a finalist in the Thelonious International Monk Competition twice - once as a composer and once as a performer.
STEVE KORTYKA (tenor sax) Currently holding a residency at the Gramercy Park Hotel each week as part of the Brian Newman quintet as well being a co-leader of the New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra, Yamaha Sax Artist Steve Kortyka is an active performer on the New York scene, has released 2 albums under his own name. Philippe Lemm, (drums) ...born and raised in Amsterdam, is quickly becoming one of the most versatile and expressive drummers in both Europe and the NYC area. At the age of 19 he was admitted at The Amsterdam Conservatory. In 2013 Philippe received his Masters Degree from The Manhattan School. With his own trio, he has performed at The North Sea Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scotts, Pori Jazz Festival and The Kennedy Center.
